Island livingCounter Culture
Everyone ends up in the kitchen at a party. This is the kitchen. Somebody else does the dishes.

The house part matters. Here's what we mean by it, who's behind the bar, and why nearly everything worth looking at is glass.
The character went in before anyone stopped to ask why. Emerald, cream, sunset-orange and turquoise stained glass, and Favrile* Tiffany art. When the lamps and the sun power up behind it all, the room doesn't so much get brighter as become self-aware. Like the way you realize someone's becoming a friend — or how A.I. will one day go totally Skynet on us all. Either way, when the glass is glowing, you know we're open.
When we announced Fenian's was being remodeled, some people worried the vibe of the old joint would be wiped away with the asbestos and the questionably safe spiral staircase. We'd never be so audacious. Not just because the ghost(s) would disapprove, but because, frankly, we're horrible interior decorators. So all we did was add a few things: an actual access ramp, a big outdoor seating area, and a pool table and darts. The last two we primarily did to appease the ghost(s). Everything else, ghost(s) included, we kept exactly as it always was. We're entrepreneurs, after all, not animals.
Everything about the new Fenian's is just an extension of the old one. The colours on this site are the colours of the room. We didn't invent a brand; we held the old one up to the light.
*Favrile: new word to us. We say it out loud now. A lot.A pub with an Irish theme and a name that sounded the part.
The doors shut. The décor stayed. Somebody kept the key.
Oak sanded, brass polished, larger bar, more seats, and easier access for all.
Stools down, first pint pulled. Now we're hoping people show up, which would be nice.
The lamps come on behind the glass. That's the whole brand.
Favrile. We said it again.A pub is a room
where nobody's in a hurry and the
light is always a bit better than
outside.

Called itBack to the wall, eyes on the taps. Same as your end of the sofa. Better telly.
It's for youThe hall nook where the landline used to live. Pull up a chair; we'll tell them you're not in.
The usual suspectsNan's dresser rules: crocks stay up top, mugs stay on their hooks, and you get out from behind the bar.
Next stop: last ordersYour dining room, if Dad had won the argument about the train set. Mam still got her Tiffany lamp.
Untangled by professionalsThe deck you keep meaning to build. Ours got string lights and a queue. Yours got a quote.
Please rack responsiblyLike the good guest towels: kept for company, used by everyone anyway.
Pointed remarks welcomeFinally, a wall you're allowed to put holes in. One's a bullseye. Nobody living will own up to it.
Follow the light on
The pub's the hub. Everything else is a spoke off it. Follow one, follow both, or just come in.
The glass at dusk, lamps just on. Room's gone self-aware again.
Friday's bar bets settled three arguments and started five.
Declan pouring the two-part pint. Don't rush him. 48 seconds.
